Ombre Nails

I got a new bath bomb from Lush tonight so I enjoyed a bath and then painted my nails! They look pretty fun so I wanted to share... ok, back to Intervention :)

Oh How I Miss You Miami... The Delano Hotel

This gray weather always makes me wish I could get away for a quick weekend vacation somewhere sunny. My favorite place to go on the east coast is Miami, and my favorite place to stay there is the Delano Hotel. Have you ever been there? It is really fabulous... modern, airy and trendy, the perfect South Beach mixture. Take a look at the pics below and visit their website if you are looking for a relaxing, fun stay in Miami... The Delano Hotel

Trip To The DC Design Center

Hola - Today I took a trip to the design center. One of the showrooms had an amazing display of one of their wallpapers with a fantastic mirror over it. There was also a fun chair I took a picture of. I love seeing all of the new fabrics and wallpapers... seeing and touching them in person is way better than looking online!

This metallic wallpaper almost looks 3D... it looked amazing with the mirror against it...

Fun :)

Hello... can you come live in my apartment?

Some more wallpaper...

Hello wild paper... sorry this is a little fuzzy.

Wild Wednesdays: Eye Catching Fixtures

I have to make this a quick post as I just brought a new piece of furniture to my apartment and have some re-organizing to do! This week, I found some awesome images of fun and funky light fixtures. They can jazz up the most boring of rooms or take a fabulous room to the next level. Actually, not being able to put my own wild fixtures up is what makes me most sad about renting an apartment!
Enjoy...

Beauty Products I Cannot Live Without

I promise I will get back to decor, design and all things home related tomorrow! But all of this red carpet-glam squad-how to get the look stuff on TV prompted me to do a post about the beauty products that I use every day and can't live without. I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely love reading/watching make up tutorials and learning about products that I haven't used before.

I will save my morning and night skin routine for another post and focus on make up today. For any of you who are on the market for some new products, I will start by saying I have combination skin and try to use products that cater to my skin's needs. I will start with my products and end with four products that I want to try in the near future. Ok, here we go...

I am actually out of this and am hating my life because of it. There is no better primer than this. In fact, I have tried other versions of Smashbox primers (there is a hydrating primer that does nothing for me). It really keeps my make up looking the same at the end of the work day as it did in the morning - amazing! $36
Find it here.

After my primer sits for about 5 minutes (I get dressed while I wait) I use my fingers to apply this Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer with SPF 20. It is really light and does not provide much coverage, which - thank the lord - I don't need quite yet! It just evens out my overall tone. I love it because I don't even notice it. Have you ever used a product that you feel like you have to wash off the second you get home at the end of the day? This is not like that at all! I wear it in nude (yes, I am pale). $42

On days that I feel I need a bit more coverage - we all have those days from time to time ladies - I use a fat Mac brush and dust my face with this Laura Mercier mineral powder, SPF 15. It is also very light, natural looking and gives my face a matte look. I wear it in Real Sand and I adore it! $35

When I read the reviews for Nars Orgasm blush, I found it hard to believe that is could actually look good on ANY skin tone. But I was proven wrong... literally anyone can wear it! I am pale the majority of the year now that I am a grown up :) so bronze doesn't always work. This blush gives me a warm peach shade that is more natural looking than traditional pink blush. I highly recommend this one for anyone who hasn't tried it yet. Just a quick swipe along the top of your cheek bones and you are good to go! $27

This is the only product I use that I can buy at the grocery store... I wish I could buy more there! It is a simple liquid liner, but what I like so much about it is the felt tip, which allows for VERY simple application. I love the cat eye look and the tip of this liner makes it easy. I had a Chanel liquid liner with a brush on the end and I really was not happy with the way it looked. Unfortunately, this L'Oreal liner does not last through the whole day, so I am searching for a replacement. Still, I wanted to recommend it because I have used it for years so it is by no means a terrible product. Oh yeah... and the price is right! $6.50

I recently started using this Benefit mascara a few months ago after it was recommended to me by a friend and I love it! It makes my lashes look super long and full. I do have to apply two or three coats, but I think that is pretty standard to get the mayja lash look. My only complaint is that the bottle does dry out after about 2 months... but I can live with that since it makes my lashes look good. $22

PRODUCT TO TRY: I want to try this YSL liquid liner. It is advertised as a felt tip pen, although it kinda looks like a brush in the picture so I will have to go to the mall and check it out. It did get good reviews so I am def interested... $29
Find it here.

PRODUCT TO TRY: This is Nars' multi-purpose stick in their famous color, Orgasm.  It can be used on your cheeks, lip, eyes, etc. I think it could potentially give your face that J.Lo glow... or be an oily mess. Again, it is one I must try. If you have used it, please comment! $39
Find it here.

PRODUCT TO TRY: This is a lip balm and lip stick combined into one fat little crayon look-alike. It seems like it would be easy to put on while you are on the run because it doesn't require the careful application that lipstick does. Red was shown, but I would like to try it in any color! $24
Find it here.
PRODUCT TO TRY: Finally, I saw this lipstick on Pintrest and fell in love. When I saw it on someone in a picture, it looked lighter than it is shown here. It is another product that I need to see in person. It is the Rouge Volupte and the color is called Sweet Honey. $34

Top 5 Golden Globes Looks

I never watch the award shows, but I lovvvve seeing the dresses! Here are my top 5 favorite looks of the night... who did you think was best dressed?

Some of you may know that I have a special place in my heart for Ms. Jolie :) She always looks amazing at events, but this look was SO hot!

Nicole Kidman takes risks but for me, they are usually fails. But not last night! This dress fit her like a glove and the hardware on the dress + her hair color is stunning.

The usually conservative Reese Witherspoon is smokin' hot in this red dress - lets see more of this!

No explanation needed.. Salma Hayek always look incredible.

What??? Who has a body like this?! She hasn't looked bad, or even mediocre, at an event yet. Ridiculous.

Goals For 2012

Do you make New Years resolutions? I never really do.. I think I am turned off by the idea because most people make a resolution and then give up on it after a few weeks (hence the gym being packed for the month of January, and empties out in February). But I was reading one of the blogs that I visit every day and she talked about a goal she had for the year: figuring out how to use her camera better so that she can take better shots for her blog. A reasonable, attainable goal! So it got me thinking... I turned 25 in December and have worked in interior design now for a little over a year now... what are my goals for this year? Of course I had a million things rushing through my mind that I want to accomplish, so I narrowed it down to my top 3 goals:
1. Design: master the scale and be able to draw floor plans. Also, continue to learn and remember all the details, detail, details!
2. Wellness: cook more at home and make nutrient rich meals.. not to lose weight, but to be more healthy overall
3. Personal - take my blog to the next level! I hope to have 300 members by the end of the year (if you like my blog, please join :) )

I didn't write this blog to bore you with my goals... I'm not Angelia Jolie, no one stays up at night wondering what I am thinking :) But! I wanted to share because when I read the blog about someone else's goals, it got me thinking about my own. So I hope to get someone thinking who reads this blog.

Have a good weekend - Go Ravens!
